Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Zoran Tegeltija paid a working visit to Brod, where he talked with the Municipality Major Ilija Jovičić.

Chairman Tegeltija stated after the meeting with the Municipality of Brod Management that the citizens and economy of BIH need a border-crossing at Brod, but that the local population should be held hostage of it, adding that he believes that the time has come to construct the an adequate border-crossing corresponding to number of passengers and volume of goods passing through..

He stressed that the most of the time of year the local population is burdened, without possibility for a normal communication.

Chairman Tegeltija reminded that more than 15 years ago everything was ready for the construction of a new border-crossing, including donor funds from the European Commission, but that property issues blocked the construction.

In meantime, thanks to management of the Municipality of Brod and Government of Republika Srpska,, property relations were solved, so that it was left to us, from joint institutions, to secure funds, in cooperation with international financial institutions, for construction of the border-crossing“, Tegeltija said.

According to him, the issue of terminal for trucks will be solved with the Indirect Taxation Adminsitration, because, practically the major part of customs procedures currently proceed on street.

Major Jovičić said that this is the first time that Brod enjoys support from the BIH level in solving the issues troubling the population for years.

“Our major problems are the blockages at border, border-crossing, customs terminal, and Brod infrastructure connected with the border-crossing, where over two million cars and between 80,000 and 100,000” cargo vehicles pass annually”, Jovičić said.

Chairman Tegeltija and Major Jovičić visited the border-crossing and “Nikola Tesla” Secondary School in Brod.
