The Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Zoran Tegeltija talked in Sarajevo with Special Envoy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Government for Prevention of Sexual Violence in Conflict and State Minister for South Asia, United Nations and Commonwealth Tariq Mahmood Ahmad, Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon.

Chairman Tegeltija assessed that the political relations between BIH and the United Kingdom are good and friendly, and that the space is open for strengthening of economic cooperation. He stressed the interest of Bosnia and Herzegovina for an economic linking of the two states, after the United Kingdom broke away from the European Union.

On this occasion, the Chairman briefed his interlocutor of the current political developments in BIH, noting that an imposed decision by the former High Representative should be revoked immediately, thus creating conditions for a normal functioning of all institutions. Especially, he underlined that imposing any sanctions against anyone in BIH is unnecessary, but internal dialogue of political representatives should be encouraged in order to overcome the current stalemate for benefit of all.

The meeting discussed implementation modalities of UN Convention against torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. Chairman Tegeltija said the issues and commitments stemming from international conventions should be solved in BIH by way of persistent dialogue and agreements, pursuant to constitutional competences.

Chairman Tegeltija thanked to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Government for its continuous assistance and support to Bosnia and Herzegovina. (end)
