04/05/2024
In her address, Chairwoman Krišto said that the Forum is an opportunity to discuss important issues to contribute, in a long run, to promotion of business environment, creation of positive business climate, increased competitiveness of economy, and finally to further economic development of the town of Livno.
She stressed that Livno is a city of a great natural potential and possibilities, extremely good geospatial position, rich historical and cultural heritage, it is a town of ecologically preserved natural environment and beautiful rural surrounding, so these advantages are an exceptional chance for investment to renewable sources of energy, ecologically oriented agricultural production and tourism, as one of the fastest growing economic sectors. She added that Livno should further develop with a clear vision and proactive role of local government.
“Therefore, today’s Forum is a chance to elaborate new projects through exchange of experiences from our diaspora, our entrepreneurs and local community. We are witnesses of numerous examples throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, and in the town of Livno, as well, that our nationals used to decide, after years spend in the West, to return and invest to their city of birth and thereby contribute to progressing of domestic economy. Other than contribution through investing, relevant role to development of local community is knowledge, experience and acquired practice. This human and social potentials are an important component of business activity and will surely contribute to improved competitiveness, employment, and finally to total economic growth and development of the town of Livno”, Chairwoman Krišto said.
She emphasised the importance of strengthening of links of our nationals from both sides of border, which is, aside from economic prosperity, relevant for identity, connectedness and togetherness.
Chairwoman Krišto said that progress by local community is our joint responsibility and our shared aim. She added that, considering the constitutional structure of Bosnia and Herzegovina and responsibilities of all-level authorities, we have to work in a coordinated way in creation of policies to step-up economic growth and development, which surely presumes regional cooperation, sustainable infrastructure projects and investments within the European Union initiatives and cooperation with its institutions.
In that context, she informed the attending entrepreneurs about the EUR 6 billion Western Balkans Growth Plan, of which EUR 2 billion grant funds and EUR 4 billion concessive loans, adding that slightly more than EUR 1 billion was allocated to development of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“The Plan aims to enable countries of the region to intensify reforms and investments so as to accelerate considerably enlargement and growth process of their economies. I note this rightly because the majority of this depends on people living in local community, i.e. on initiatives they present. How much of benefits will be used from the European integrations process and related possibilities offered by the European Union depends on projects a local community candidates”, Chairwoman Krišto said.
