Krišto - O'Brien Meeting in Sarajevo

The meeting discussed internal relations in BIH and current developments, including the European way of BIH. Chairwoman stressed that the Council of Ministers of BIH is strongly committed to implementation of reforms necessary for integration to the European Union, since it is a shared interest of all of us.
She pointed that through only an open dialogue and consensus in decision-making by BIH institutions and bodies, and with respect of Constitutional structure and competences resting with all-level institutions we can insure a long-lasting stability, prosperity of BIH and implementation of necessary reforms. She said that the Council of Ministers of BIH has sent 13 draft laws to the parliamentarian procedure, out of which eight EU pieces of legislation. She stressed she expects a concrete recognition of results made by BIH Institutions by way of opening of negotiations this March.
Also, she stressed particular importance of a comprehensive reform of the Election Law, which presumes implementation of the BIH Constitutional Court Decision on legitimate representation of constitutive people and implementation of all awards taken by the European Court for Human Rights. It is both obligation and key priority, the realisation od which will enable faster progressing of BIH and will assist in dealing with all remaining, pressing issues. Chairwoman Krišto briefed US Assistant Secretary of State O’Brien on development of a Reforms Plan for implementation of the Western Balkans Growth Plan, She expressed her expectations for a final reform agenda to be agreed quickly with the European Commission, which includes all investment projects and finances needed for their implementation.
She noted that the Council of Ministers showed a full dedication to macroeconomic stability of BIH, through energy and structural projects, among others.
At the end of the meeting, Chairwoman Krišto thanked to Assistant US Secretary of State O’Brien for his visit, reminding that the policy she affiliates to advocates strengthening of BIH institutions, respect of the Constitution and equality of all three people and all other citizens in BIH, adding that she believes that accountability and dialogue by political representatives in BIH Institutions would result in strengthening of these, whilst an imposition of any decisions lead to the opposite direction.
