Krišto: EU Membership Is Determination of All People Living in BIH

She expressed her support to PIC efforts on improvement of dialogue and cooperation among representatives of constitutive people and different political stakeholders in Bosnia and Herzegovina, adding that with mutual respect, challenges before BIH may be overcome and progress made in building permanent peace, security and stability in our country.
“I believe that such dialogue and our all the more successful cooperation is the only and best way to secure stability and prosperity for entire BIH for all three constitututive people and all other citizens living in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It will make an open way to our accession to the big European family, where to Bosnia and Herzegovina belongs. I will use the opportunity to express my firm belief once again that the determination of all people living in BIH is the road to the EU membership and I will reiterate our strong commitment to the European agenda, reforms and progress”, Chairwoman Krišto said.
As to boosting cooperation with NATO, Chairwoman Krišto said that it is clear to everyone that there is no internal consensus about the issue, but that she will, personally, within her responsibilities, work intensively on striking an agreement.
Chairwoman Krišto emphasised that a dedicated and hard work awaits on the European road in order to fulfil all aims set, stressing that the Council of Ministers of BIH is aware of responsibility borne by them.
“Also, we are aware of numerous challenges we have to face to if we want to move forward and secure prosperous future. I believe that we are on the right direction, and, if I may put it, Bosnia and Herzegovina is more than ever turned to future, as it took it more serious and created conditions through institutional dialogue and dialogue by political leaders in BIH, so as to secure internal stability and cooperation, make decisions and step-up reform processes to enable a higher quality life to all in Bosnia and Herzegovina”, Chairwoman Krišto said.
Speaking of the work of the Council of Ministers of BIH, Chairwoman Krišto said that all Minister attend the European road seriously, especially when in question criteria of the European Union, including 15 priorities from Opinion on 2019 BIH membership application and 8+1 recommendations by the European Commission, from 2022. She added that accelerated economic development, strengthening of rule of law and countering corruption, strengthening and promotion mutual confidence remain key priorities of the Council of Ministers of BIH. She stressed that the incumbent Council of Ministers of BH has shown its dedication to principles of joint work, mutual respect, effectiveness and undoubted commitment to the European integration processes.
Chairwoman Krišto noted some of the most important materials considered and adopted over the past period of time, mentioning also several relevant legal initiatives launched for the aim at improvement of business environment and foreign investment attraction, including materials in the process of development for starting an over-all public administration reform for the purpose of its effectiveness and transparency.
She added that in the light of further progress and continuation of confidence-building in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with regard to constitutional principle of equality, a political agreement has to be reached quickly so as to enable that each of constitutive people is equal in institutions the purpose of which is the protection of collective rights, namely the BIH Presidency, Parliament Chambers, which should remove any form of discrimination towards anyone. In regard to that, she said that a limited constitutional reform has to be implemented, as well as a comprehensive reform of the Election Law, precisely implementation of the BIH Constitutional Court and European Court for Human Rights awards.
Speaking of regional cooperation, Chairwoman Krišto said BIH remains committed to further strengthening of regional cooperation on the principles of good neighbourly relations, and of political dialogue, peace, security and stability in the region, and in that context, Bosnia and Herzegovina remains dedicated to the Berlin Process as the main mechanism for pushing our societies closer to competitive an stable European societies.
At the end of her address, Chairwoman Krišto thanked to PIC support and reaffirmed readiness of our country for partnership with big states and organisations affiliated to the Peace Implementation Council, She emphasised her personal understanding that through joint efforts, primarily through internal political dialogue and with mutual respect and adherence to agreed-to Coordination Mechanism for the European Integrations Process of BIH, all challenges ahead may be overcame and Bosnia and Herzegovina entrenched as a permanent place of peace, security and prosperity.
