Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Borjana Krišto talked in Brussels with President of the European Council Charles Michel on European integrations of Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

Chairwoman Krišto thanked to President Michel and European Council for a continuous support and awarding a candidate status to BIH, saying that it is only an additional incentive for acceleration of reform processes on the road to the EU.

President of the European Council Michel congratulated to Chairwoman Krišto and the Council of Ministers of BIH for today’s adoption of an Economic Reform Programme of Bosnia and Herzegovina 2023-2025, which is a strong breakthrough on the European road.

Chairwoman Krišto said 14 key priorities form the European Commission Opinion remain at the focus of work of the Council of Ministers in the period to come, but for a successful continuation of reform processes, it is important to finalise  the process of setting-up authorities at all levels.

She stressed that a key importance is the election law reform, in accordance with the Constitutional Court of BHI decision and European Court for Human Rights awards. The election law reform would relax additionally political relations within the country, and new authorities’ focus would be directed to the European road of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

She added that the Council of Ministers of BIH confirmed a Draft Budget of BIH Institutions and international obligations of BIH for year 2023, which stabilises operations of the BIH Institutions and enables continuation of planned reform activities.

Krišto and Michel agreed that the issue of migrations is of  key importance for maintenance of security in the region and the European Union as well. (end)
