Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Borjana Krišto met in Sarajevo with high representatives of the EU member-countries General Affairs Council (so-called Salzburg format), whom she briefed on reform processes and European road of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Chairwoman Krišto emphasised the importance of as soon as possible opening of the negotiation process of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the European Union, by the end of 2023 at latest. She said that all in Bosnia and Herzegovina are aware that achieving the aim of membership depends on our own dynamics, and on consistent reforms implementation and strengthening of democratic institutions, as well as on the European Union reflecting more clearly and decisively as to its enlargement process and membership of countries of the region  in the European Union.

„We have to understand that the European Union enlargement to countries of the region is rightly the key for maintenance of peace, stability and prosperity, both in the region and in the European Union,, which is a prerequisite for economic growth and regional connectedness“, Chairwoman Krišto said.

She underlined that the most important prerequisite for further democratisation and progress of BIH is to complete the election reform. Bosnia and Herzegovina is a state where compromise and wide consensus are key to progress, and these depend on strengthening and promotion of mutual confidence, internal dialogue and consensus of primarily legitimate political representatives of constitutive people, especially when it comes to the most important internal policy aims  -  implementation of the Constitutional Court decisions and European Court for Human Rights awards, all requiring limited amendments of the Constitution of BIH and Election Law.

The Chairwoman is confident that in the light of further progress and continued confidence building in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and with mutual respect of constitutional principle of equality, limited constitutional amendments will be implemented quickly, along with thorough reform of the Election Law.

The Chairwoman said that the Council of Ministers of BIH took a Decision of Flag Raising of the European Union in ministries, administrative organisations and other bodies of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at tis 25th session, of October 4, which serves for Bosnia and Herzegovina to symbolically express its undoubted belonging to the European civilisation circle. She also reminded that Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Commission held the fifth meeting of the Stabilisation and Accession Council with the European Union.
