Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Borjana Krišto talked in Sarajevo with Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban on promotion of bilateral cooperation and the European road of BIH.

The meeting stressed bilateral cooperation between friendly countries is good and with considerable space and need for increased goods exchange. It welcomed activities of the Joint Committee for Economic Cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Hungary.

Chairwoman Krišto expressed her thankfulness to Prime Minister Orban and Hungarian diplomacy for a strong and uncompromised support to the European road of our country. She added that the European Council decision represents both a confirmation of friendship between Hungary and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and prof of effort and devotion to bring to required level of harmonisation with EU membership criteria.

She stressed that by opening accession negotiations, BIH opened a new chapter of European future, which demands an intensive effort. She said that an imposed intervention by the High Representative in BIH makes further process of harmonisation with European standards more difficult.

„It is very important for all solutions, not only the election legislation, as especially relevant issue for BIH, but all others to be result of our internal dialogue and agreement, meaning that relevant issues have to be solved within our institutions, with respect of democratic principles and rule of law “, Chairwoman Krišto said.

She emphasised that all institutions in BIH showed, last year, ability to take laws and regulation on their own, as evidenced clearly by the Council of Ministers of BIH output statistics. She stressed that this act, imposition of the Election Law, is the most detrimental for Bosnia and Herzegovina itself.

„In these challenging moments, however, we have to remain focused at our planned road, and our dedication to European values most not be shaken by these or similar interventions “, Chairwoman Krišto said.

Chairwoman Krišto said that a focus on reforms and progress towards the EU is necessary to maintain, with simultaneous strengthening of institutions and democratic processes, all in order to secure lasting stability and prosperity for BIH.

At the end of the meeting, it was highlighted that good economic cooperation between BIH and Hungary should continue, especially in the area of entrepreneurship. (end)
