Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Borjana Krišto met, at the margins of the 24th International Economic Fair in Mostar, with Miroslav Lajčak, Special EU Representative for Belgrade-Priština Dialogue and Other Western Balkans Issues. 

Chairwoman Krišto expressed her thankfulness to Special EU Representative Lajačak for his years’ long strong contribution to the European perspective and road of Bosnia and Herzegovina towards the European Union.

The officials discussed the European road of Bosnia and Herzegovina, up-coming reforms and current political developments, following the setting-up of authorities at the State and entity levels, with a special focus on the Federation of BIH level.

They stressed the importance of acceleration of socio-economic reforms of Bosnia and Herzegovina on its European road.

Special EU Representative Lajčak said Bosnia and Herzegovina enjoys a continuous support on its European way, with will continue to do so.

Chairwoman Krišto emphasised the continuation of reforms and fulfilment of 14 key priorities for progression on the European road, which remain at the focus of the Council of Ministers of BIH, She said that, in the face of complex political system in BIH, the progress on the European road requires a lot of patience, compromise and consensus among different authority levels, while the whole process necessitates the key European support.

She also noted a priority of making limited amendments of the BIH Constitution and complete change of the Election Law, within the next six month at latest, in a way to secure a real constitutional equality of all three constitutive people. For this reason, it is inevitable to implement the Constitutional Court award on legitimate representation at all administrative-political levels, in addition to implementation of all awards by the European Court for Human Rights. (end)
