The meeting noted that their bilateral relations are on the up-ward trend, but modalities should be found for improvement of economic cooperation and foreign exchange. A need was emphasised for intensified high level contacts, in order to further up-grade and improve both political and economic ties.
Chairwoman Krišto thanked to Egypt for its overall assistance and support to Bosnia and Herzegovina through bilateral and multilateral relations. She underlined that Bosnia and Herzegovina has great natural capacities and resources interesting to foreign investors. She emphasised especially prospects of investments to telecommunications and transport system, including to energy, agriculture, food processing and wood processing industries, civil construction and tourism. She said Bosnia and Herzegovina may be a decisive factor for cooperation of Egypt with the Western Balkan countries, since BIH is a member of CEFTA, presuming an open market with the countries of the region.
Chairwoman Krišto briefed Ambassador Sourour of the European aspirations of our country. She stressed that Bosnia and Herzegovina has a clear prospective of joining the EU, which means a long term internal and external security of the country. She said that legislation in Bosnia and Herzegovina provides a national treatment to foreign investors, which means they are entitled to the same rights and obligations, enjoyed by citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The meeting discussed the improvement of communication links between the two countries, to advance considerably cooperation in the area of tourism. On this occasion, Chairwoman Krišto welcomed announcement by the AirCairo Company to introduce four direct air lines weekly for BIH, which would link Bosnia and Herzegovina and Egypt by a direct line for the first time.
