Chairwoman Krišto Via Video Link at 10th EBRD Summit on Investment to Western Balkans

Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Borjana Krišto took part, via video link, at the jubilar 10th EBRD Summit on Investments to the Western Balkan. 

In her address, Chairwoman Krišto spoke on a business climate in BIH, conveniences for foreign investors and on regional projects. She said Bosnia and Herzegovina is a step away from opening of negotiations with the EU, so it is a country that has made a tremendous progress in improvement of business environment over the past year through a vigorous reform process.

The Chairwoman stressed that BIH is an open and desirable destination for foreign investments. She numberd comparative advantages of our country, favourable geographic location, natural richness and beauties, tradition of industrial production, a quite number of available industrial zones, sites and production facilities, effective legislation, low taxes, qualified labour, currency pegged to Euro, number of signed-to bilateral and regional agreements, prospective EU accession, and post-investment programmes for foreign investors. She noted that numerous foreign companies are successful in Bosnia and Herzegovina   through active 283 investment projects, most of them in agriculture, food production, tourism, and energy sectors.

Chairwoman Krišto briefed the 10th EBRD Summit on investments to the Western Balkans with key priorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina concerning regional projects referring to infrastructural connection, green transition of economy and rural development.

She stressed that infrastructure development is key to connection with regional and European markets.

She stressed that Bosnia and Herzegovina recognises the importance of green transition, as a key element of sustainable development and modernisation od economy, since it seeks to policies and projects implementation, though active cooperation with partner countries and institutions, directed to achievement of sustainable development and environmental protection aims.

She noted that projects directed to rural development through support to agriculture, tourism, rural entrepreneurship, and rural infrastructure are relevant to equal regional development. She assessed that these projects have potential to contribute considerably to economic growth, sustainable development and boosting of competitiveness of BIH economy, therefore they should be supported and developed in accordance with the European standards.

At the end of her address, the Chairwoman said Bosnia and Herzegovina continues working on implementation of its priority aims in regional projects, seeking strengthening of regional linkage, sustainable development and stability in the region.(end)
