Chairwoman Krišto: To Use Opportunities Brought Along with Digital Era

“Bosnia and Herzegovina and Western Balkan countries have a huge potential, and to realise it we should take a joint effort. We have to share ideas, experiences and best practices, we have to cooperate in order to overcome challenges jointly and use opportunities the digital era brings about”, Chairwoman Krišto stressed in her opening remarks of the 6th Western Balkans Digital Summit.
She said that cooperation and exchange of ideas among Western Balkan countries are the foundation of stronger, and more stable and prosperous region. “Our joint future lies with connecting, and digital technologies are the key tool for achievement of the goal”, Chairwoman Krišto underlined.
She pointed at potential the digital technology has in bringing revolution in our society, economy and public administration, offering a chance for improved education, health care, communications and infrastructure. Further, they incite innovations and job creation, which is a key to decrease of unemployment and improve living standard of all of us, the Chairwomen of the Council of Ministers of BIH said.
“On its way to the European integrations, Bosnia and Herzegovina finds itself in a digital cross roads and must not lag behind others. The current exact indices are not on our side. Unfortunately, BIH still has no a single framework for digital system development, which is a main prerequisite of our further digital development and condition for successful digital transformation. Development and management of strategic documents is something we have to address intensively and urgently, so as to make a necessary breakthrough”, Chairwoman Krišto said.
She concluded that “with joined forces only, as partners and neighbours, we may reach our full potential and bring positive changes to lives of all of us”.
The Sixth Western Balkans Digital Summit is a major regional digital event on cooperation in digital transformation, which was launched in Sarajevo with support of the Regional Cooperation Council. The host of the two-day Digital Summit, gathering more than 400 participants, is the Ministry of Communications and Transport of BIH. (end)
