Chairwoman Krišto Talks in Athens with Prime Minister of Croatia Plenković
08/22/2023
Chairwoman Krišto thanked to Prime Minister Plenković for support friendly Croatia extends to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the European integrations process and for development of the entire society. Prime Minister Plenković said Croatia will maintain generous continuous support to BIH on its European road.
Chairwoman Krišto stressed that priorities and focus of work of the Council of Ministers of BIH and all BIH Institutions are directed to fulfilment of 8+1 requirements, which are a part of 14 key priorities from the European Commission Opinion. She added that work and efforts by the current Council of Ministers, taken to the end of acceleration of European reforms, were recognised at the BIH-EU Stabilisation and Accession Council session of July 29, 2023 in Brussels.
The Council of Ministers of BIH works on adoption of reform legislation, Chairwoman Krišto said, emphasising that the Election Law reform is the most important prerequisite for further democratisation and progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina. She expressed her confidence that a limited Constitution amendment will take place by the end of this year, together with a thorough amendment of the Election Law, to secure genuine constitutional equality of all three constitutive people and remove the existing discrimination. Therefore, it is necessary to implement the BIH Constitutional Court Decisions on legitimate representation at all administrative-political levels, as well as all awards by the European Court for Human Rights.
The Krišto-Plenković meeting was held on the eve of informal meeting of leaders from the region and EU countries in Athens, where the Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of BIH will take part, upon invitation by President of the Government of the Hellenic Republic Kyriakos Mitsotakis.(end)
