Chairwoman Krišto Sent Letter Thanking to President of European Council Michel and 27 EC Countries’ PMs
03/22/2024
She pointed out that for Bosnia and Herzegovina, following submitting its membership request in 2016, and gaining a candidate status in 2022, the official opening of the negotiations made an important move forward on further European integrations path, which is a kind of recognition to all-level institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina for their work. She wrote that mutual decisiveness and efforts resulted in a required level of harmonisation with requests and criteria set by the European Union.
We are aware that every progress in BIH depends largely on strengthening and promotion of mutual confidence by representatives of constitutive people in BIH. In time ahead, we remain clearly and undoubtedly committed to root values and aims of the European Union, and committed to further strengthening of regional cooperation within the existing initiatives on principles of good neighbourly relations, while strengthening political dialogue, peace and stability in the region “, the Chairwoman stressed in her letter.
She noted that she is personally satisfied and proud of the fact that under this exhausting and demanding process of implementation of necessary and needed reforms, we managed to maintain 100% harmonisation with EU foreign and security policy. She stressed that our focus in coming days will be at adoption of remaining proposal legislation and other obligations.
The Chairwoman said that wants to single out, among key obligations, the Law on Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Law on Personal Data Protection, which are technically ready for adoption, in addition to adoption of the Amendments and Supplements to the Election Law in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which were administratively, on this key date, provided officially to the Council of Ministers for further procedure.
At the end of her letter, the Chairwoman expressed her confidence that the EU will continue its full support to compromise and solution-finding, which are exclusively responsibility of BIH institutions, as is commitment to equally successful continuation of our cooperation. (end)
