Chairwoman Krišto sends Letter to European Council President Michel and to All European Council Members

Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Borjana Krišto sent a letter to President of the European Council Charles Michel and to all members of the European Council in connection the European Council meeting of yesterday, which discussed Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine and Moldova, in terms of launch of negotiations, as well as Georgia. as to getting the candidate status. 

In her letter, Chairwoman Krišto  pointed how regrettable it is for Bosnia and Herzegovina has not got so needed, and by many in our country, deserved support when in question opening of negotiations with the European Union. She stressed that all in Bosnia and Herzegovina have given their maximum, which unfortunately was not recognised by the European Union in a way we all in Bosnia and Herzegovina had expected.

She reminded all European Council members of bold breakthroughs our country has made in 2023. She emphasised that Bosnia and Herzegovina had, for the first time in its history, 100% harmonisation with the EU foreign and security policy.

„I was personally fully confident that this outstanding effort by Bosnia and Herzegovina Instigations in 2023 would be awarded at yesterday's session of the European Council  and that all in BIH would get so needed support concerning the lunch of negotiations, and that in this geopolitical moment you would clearly and strongly connect BIH to the EU. I sincerely hope that this unexpected failure would not have major consequences to work of parties' coalition within Bosnia and Herzegovina both at the state and all other levels of authority, and that we would be able to continue work with the same effectiveness relating to necessary reforms output“, Chairwoman Krišto said.

To support this, she said that this week only, the Council of Ministers of BIH adopted two very important documents: Draft platform for conclusion of an Agreement with European Border and Coastal Guard Agency (FRONTEX) with a proposal BH Delegation, and the Law on Anti Money Laundering and Financing Tattooist Activities. She underlined that in the course of 2023, 10 proposal laws were adopted at the Council of Ministers. The incumbent Council of Ministers also held total 51 sessions, adopting over 1,400 documents in nearly 12-month time. From the presented statistics only, it comes clear that due to diligent work of the Council of Ministers of BIH within each and every of 14 key priorities, an extraordinary progress has been achieved.

Despite missing the date for start of negotiations, Chairwoman Krišto said that Bosnia and Hrezgovian continues working strongly on tis reform path until the final accession to the European family, where it belongs to.

„What I can pledge is that I will, in my capacity of Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of BIH, continue working in same dynamics, aware that all necessary reforms are needed for us. I am sure that we will continue running good policies based on permanent discussions by legitimate political representatives of constitutive peoples, based on agreements, compromises and consensus “, Krišto said. (end)
