Chairwoman Krišto Delivers Bosnia and Herzegovina Reforms Plan Initial Version to European Commission
12/07/2023
The document, drafted by the Council of Ministers of BIH ad hoc body, contains four priorities: Green and Digital Transition, Private Sector and Business Environment Development; Maintenance of Human Capital; and Rule of Law.
Based on these priorities, an indicative list of priorities and projects will be further developed in dialogue with the European Commission, by next March, when a final Reform Agenda should be agreed, listing all reforms and requirements for approval of funds and investment projects. Further, the process would be managed by a standing body, to be appointed later in 2024 by the Council of Ministers of BIH.
Along with a letter accompanying the Reform Plan, Chairwoman Krišto pointed that the new Western Balkans Growth Plan opens new possibilities of investment to Bosnia and Herzegovina economy, integration with the EU market and access to benefits of the EU membership, inaccessible thus far to membership candidate countries.
She added that there is ahead a significant challenge of development of a final Reform Plan, as an important part of the Western Balkans Growth Plan, stressing great importance of keeping the European Commission understand and support implementation and successful finalisation of the process, with an absolute inclusion and support by all constitutionally competent authority levels of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Chairwoman Krišto used the opportunity and thanked to Commissioner Varhelyi for the Second High-Level Political Dialogue between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Union held in Brussels yesterday. (end)
