Chairwoman Krišto and RCC Chief Secretary Bregu on Strengthening of Regional Cooperation

Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Borjana Krišto talked in Sarajevo with Chef Secretary of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) Majlinda Bregu on project implementation and modalities of improving cooperation in the South East Europe. 

Chairwoman Krišto emphasised the importance of strengthening of cooperation in the region to contribute to economic and social progress, development of infrastructure and energy, improvement of rule of law and security to benefit people of the region. She added that the priority of the Council of Ministers of BIH is to intensify regional cooperation and link with its neighbours, as an integral part of the European integrations process.

RCC Chef Secretary Bregu said she expects the Western Balkan countries to finalise soon ratification of signed-to agreements, which enable travelling with ID card within the region, and mutual recognition of university diplomas and expert qualifications.

Chairwoman Krišto noted that the Council of Ministers of BIH sent, in mid-April, a piece of information to the BIH Presidency on signed-to agreements on freedom of movement, within the Berlin process, for the aim of acceleration of ratification thereof.

It is about two agreements, namely, recognition of high education qualifications and recognition of professional qualifications of doctors of medicine, doctors of dental medicine and architects, in the context of the Central European Free trade Agreement, adding that activates are on-going on reaching consensus as to the third agreement, relating to travel within the Western Balkans with ID only.

The meeting discussed preparations for the Western Balkans Digital Summit, to take place in Sarajevo in October 2023, within the Berlin process and Western Balkans Common Regional Market Action Plan, following the Council of Ministers of BIH decision by to host the event.(end)
