Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Zoran Tegeltija held a meeting today in Sarajevo with IMF Resident Representative in IH Andrew Juel, discussing possibilities of support to Bosnia and Herzegovina in financing consequences caused by coronavirus.

IMF Resident Representative Juel briefed Chainman Tegeltija that the IMF due to declaration of global coronavirus pandemic has put at disposal to al its member countries an amount of USD 50 billion of special credit line, approved for cases of emergency or special circumstances, a kind of which has been now declared in BIH.

Therefore, IMF member-counties in emergency or special circumstances are approved funds up to 50%of paid in amount, according to which BIH would have at disposal EUR 165 million.

Since it is a special credit line, a speeded arrangement realisation procedure is applied in these cases, so the funds approved to Bosnia and Herzegovina are expected to be operative in May after the compliti9on of all needed procedures.

Chairman Tegeltija thanked to Juel for a rapid response by the IMF in connection to crisis situation in BIH, informind him that the approved funds are intended to be used for covering costs incurred to the health system, as well as for an additional support to BIH economy, and expressed his readiness to start negotiations with the IMF on a new arrangement for BIH.
