Chairman Tegeltija with Prime Minister of PR China Keqiang in Beijing

Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Zoran Tegeltija talked in Beijing with Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of China Li Keqiang on topical political and economic issues, with a special focus at advancement of bilateral cooperation. 

Chairman Tegeltija said political relations of the two counties are on a high level, featured by overall strategic partnership, mutual confidence and support, and expressed his thankfulness for support the People’s Republic of China extended to BIH in difficult times of Covid-19 containment, as well as for overall support to development efforts and stability in BIH, and equal policy towards both Entities.

Chairman Tegeltija commended success of the both political and economic reforms in China, adding that the Chinese model might well be an example to many countries in development and transition, and emphasising that the “Belt and Road” Initiative, launched by the Chinese President - the integral part of which is cooperation of China with Central and Eastern European countries – represents an extraordinary contribution to levelled development, as one of the key preconditions for global security.

The meeting discussed the improvement of cooperation in the areas of energy, infrastructure and economy, and Chairman Tegeltija pointed at the importance of strengthening of cultural ties between the two countries, and in that context he underlined the importance of opening of Confucius Institute in both Banja Luka and Sarajevo, noting BIH expectations in view of further development of cooperation thorough the 16+1 Initiative.

They jointly stressed the importance of high level bilateral meetings, as a platform for improvement of relations in a whole, especially economic ones, and Chairman Tegeltija extended an invitation to Prime Minister Keqiang to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina for talks with all-level authorities in BIH on continuation of cooperation on infrastructural and other projects within successful economic relations and financial support by the People’s Republic of China.

Expressing his gratitude to the People’s Republic of China and its leadership for a principle position as regards the respect of international law, especially with the Un Security Council on the issue of High Representative, Chairman Tegeltija congratulated to Prime Minister Keqiang the successful organisation of the XXIV Winter Olympic Games, sending out to the world messages of peace, progress and better life, and wished both countries’ sportspersons to make remarkable results.

Chairman Tegeltija attended a reception earlier today, hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan at the Great Hall of Nations for visiting heads of states and international organisations, attending the opening ceremony of the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing. (end)
