Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Zoran Tegeltija talked in Sarajevo with EUFOR Commander General-Major Wessely.

The meeting discussed the current issues in BIH and the region in the context of security challenges, and the EUFOR Commander briefed Chairman Tegletija on the on-going EUFOR activities in BIH.

Chairman Tegeltija conveyed to Commander Wessely citizens’ concerns because of an increased presence of uniformed EUFOR staff members at sites usually occupied by the youngest population, such as children play grounds, suggesting that such choice of sites causes unease among citizens of all local communities.

On this occasion, Commander Wessely informed Chairman Tegeltija that through tis increased visibility at streets of local communities, EUFOR wants to offer additional guarantee and security to BIH citizens, adding that sites to be visited by EUFOR staff members will be chosen more carefully, and with prior announcement to local authorities.

The meeting assessed jointly that the security situation in BIH is stable, but pointed at a need for an improved cooperation and data exchange by all relevant security institutions engaged in preserving peace and security in the country and region.
