Chairman Tegeltija Talks with WB Vice-president Nishio

Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Dr Zoran Tegeltija talked in Sarajevo with World Bank Vice-President for IDA Akihiko Nishio. 

Chairman Tegeltija said the World Bank has over the last 30 years, invested about USD 2.5 billion through 81 projects, of which 63 projects were financed by IDA, by concessional loans with 80% grant share, in total amount of USD 1.5 billion.

IDA funded considerable part of reconstruction needs of BIH, especially in 1995-2010 time span, since when BIH starts to take mostly commercial loans.

The meeting discussed realisation of needed activities for BIH to become IDA donor. An intention of the BIH authorities is to start the process, and to get approximated, for two or three year time, to a grant level as provided under IDA rules. This way, BIH wants to emphasise the importance of the assistance it were receiving from IDA, and simultaneously to join EU member countries - regular IDA donors.
