Chairman Tegeltija Talks with Turkish Minister Çavuşoǧlu

Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Zoran Tegletija talked in Sarajevo with Foreign Minister of the Republic of Turkey Mevlüt Çavuşoǧlu on topical political and economic issues and further development of bilateral relations, with a focus on economy and containing the corona virus pandemics consequences in BIH. 

Chairman Tegeltija thanked to Minister Çavuşoǧlu for a balanced approach Turkey assumes towards BIH, proved by recent opening of the General Consular Office in Banja Luka, aside of those already opened in Sarajevo and Mostar.

It was noted that Turkey is the country with which BIH has most of concluded and ratified bilateral agreements. Chairman Tegletija pointed at a relevant role of Turkey in construction of the Belgrade-Sarajevo motorway, as well as at the importance of Trilateral Balkan Summit and the Trilateral Trade Committee BIH-Serbia-Turkey.

It was concluded that Turkey is interested in signing a number of bilateral agreements, currently in procedure, which refer, among other things, to military industry, security, police training, investment protection and water management.

The meeting assessed that the relations between BIH and Turkey are very good, stable and without outstanding issues, and that the economic cooperation needs to be further developed in order to decrease foreign trade deficit of BIH and increase Turkish investment to BIH, especially in the sectors of infrastructure, agriculture, energy, tourism, education, health and food.
