Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Zoran Tegletija talked in Sarajevo today with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Nikola Selaković on the current political and economic situation in BIH and the region, with a focus to challenges encountered by the countries of the region caused by the corona virus pandemics. 

Chairman Tegeltija pointed at a satisfying, good bilateral cooperation between the two countries to-date, based on confidence and respect, which was additionally confirmed during the Covid-19 pandemics.

Their joint assessment was that, aside of good and constructive bilateral relations in various areas, there are certain outstanding issues requiring solution-finding in future bilateral activities at political and expert levels, such as demarcation and property relations.

Chairman Tegletija briefed Minister Selaković on priorities in the Council of Ministers’ work for the coming period of time, stressing his confidence that the relations between BIH and Serbia would improve with an increased dynamics, pointing at a need to resume a practice of holding joint sessions of the Council of Ministers of BIH and Government of the Republic of Serbia, as soon as epidemiologic conditions allow.

Chairman Tegeltija and Minister Selaković agreed that the regional cooperation is of the strategic importance for both BIH and Serbia, pointing that the strengthening of good neighbourly relations and intensification of cooperation in the areas relevant for the improvement of living standard of citizens in both countries is an imperative.

They expressed their hope that BIH and Serbia, as other counties of the region, would manage to cope with consequences of the pandemics and to turn to economic development, and Chairman Tegeltija thanked to Serbia and its President Aleksandar Vučić for a proved solidarity and assistance to all citizens of BIH in containing corona virus.
