Chairman Tegeltija Talks with EU Commissioner Verhlyi

Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Zoran Tegletija talked otday via video link with Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood of EU Oliver Varhelyi on hte current situation caused by Covid-19 in BIH and the region. 

On this occasion, Chairman Tegeltija informed Commissioner Vaarhelzi  on measures BIH Institutions assumed to contain and prevent further outbreak of pandemics cause by new coronavirus, as well as on hte current situation in the health sector.

Commissioner Varhelyi expressed readiness to support BIH, emphasising that talks are on-going in Brussels on how to support BIH most effectively and make EUR 45 million available for economic recovery programmes, through funds redirection and reallocation under already planned programmes in employment and education, trade and SSMEs support sectors.

Varhelyi also informed Chairman Tegeltija that in regard to pandemics-created new developments, discussions are taking place within the European Commission on a reshape of the Western Balkans Fund and its purpose, to be presented at Zagreb Summit.

Chairman Telgetija thanked to the Commissioner for the assistance support to-date by the European Union, as well as efforts taken for supporting BIH, and required the Commissioner since the grant funds would not suffice to recover economy, to consider a possibility of approving credit funds with favourable interest rate by the European Union, referring to a possibility of funds placement through the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which, as he stressed, would be used to support economy and mitigate consequences caused by Covid-19 outbreak.

They jointly pointed at the necessity of high solidarity of all, in order to tackle with the problems caused by the new coronavirus pandemics.
