Chairman Tegeltija Talks with Chancellor Merkel

Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Zoran Tegeltija talked in Tirana with Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Angela Merkel. 

Chairman Tegeltija expressed his thankfulness to Chancellor Merkel for a continuous support of Germany to the European integrations process in BIH, having regard of the Berlin Process and earlier “German-British initiative”, as the results of her personal efforts for BIH and countries of the region to get accessed to the EU as early as possible.

The Chairman of the Council of Ministers pointed at the commitment of BIH to the European path, connectedness and promotion of regional cooperation, which proved its significance during the corona virus pandemics.

He briefed Chancellor Merkel of the current political developments in BIH, emphasising that dialogue, talks and adherence to constitutional competences of all-level authorities in BIH are the sole solution for smooth functioning of BIH. He said that BIH has a lot of issues on which an agreement is possible to reach, rather than having it imposed, and that, on the other side, some issues will be for future generations to deal with them.

Chairman Tegeltija said that the FR Germany and its constitutional structure are an example of an effective, decentralised state, organised as preferred by all living in it.

The interlocutors said they are satisfied with the bilateral relations between Germany and BIH to date, and pointed at a possibility for additional improvement of cooperation in the areas of shared interest. (end)
