Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Zoran Tegletija, who is in an official visit to Brussels, held this evening a bilateral meeting with High Representative of EU for Foreign Policy and Security and Vice-President of the European Commission Josep Borrell.

The meeting discussed the current political and economic developments in the context of overcoming corona virus pandemics-caused crisis, in addition to improvement of regional relations, and the European integrations.

On this occasion, Chairman Tegeltija underlined the commitment of the Council of Ministers to the European road, with a full respect of the Dayton Peace Agreement and constitutional responsibilities of all-level authorities in BIH, and stressed that the basic presumption for a successful realisation of all European integrations processes is an intensive communication and dialogue, which has been almost possible since last March, and which affected all the processes.

Chairman Tegeltija confirmed a decisiveness of BIH to become a part of the European social, economic and political structures, emphasising that that a decision-making on awarding the EU member candidate status to BIH would present a strong incentive to reform processes implementation and intensification of political dialogue on difficult issues.

During the meeting, Chairman Tegletija expressed his thankfulness for a continuous engagement of the European Union on strengthening of political and economic ties within the Western Balkans region, as well as for support to efforts on mitigation of corona virus pandemics consequences.

The meeting jointly assessed that a strong, stable and prosperous Western Balkans is in the interest of both the EU and Western Balkan countries, and that efforts are necessary to make improvement in regional cooperation, as a mechanism for progressing towards the EU.

Following the bilateral meeting, Chairman Tegeltija will take part at a working dinner with the Western Balkan leaders.
