Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Zoran Tegeltija talked in Sarajevo with the European Investment Bank delegation, led by Matteo Rivellini, comprised of EIB Representative for BIH and Monte Negro Sandrine Friscia and Branko Ćevriz . Luxembourg-based loan officer.

The meeting discussed realisation of the past projects and possibilities for realisation of new ones, together with this international financial organisation, and Chairman Tegeltija briefed the EIB delegation of the political and economic situation in BIH, with a special focus to Covid-19 pandemics consequences, namely economic and social implication thereof.

Chairman Tegeltija emphasised that the Western Balkans Economic and Investment Plan  (EIP) is of a key importance for both economic recovery from the current pandemic-caused slow down, as well as for regional development and launching a new investment cycle, calling upon the EIB to support and engage in implementation of the Western Balkans Investment Plan.

Chairman used the opportunity to thank to the EIB for continued financial support to numerous projects relevant for all citizens of BIH, including construction, reconstruction and modernisation of road and railway infrastructure, power and water pipeline network, improvement of the health system and so on.

A joint assessment was that the cooperation thus far between BIH institutions and this IFI has been good, and readiness was heard for the continuation of it with a view of inciting economic growth and productivity in BIH, as a significant element of better functioning and stability of the Western Balkans.
