Chairman Tegeltija Congratulates International Day of Media Freedom to Journalists

Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Zoran Tegeltija sent a congratulations note, on the occasion of May 3, the International Day of Media Freedom, to journalists. editorial units, editors and journalist associations in BIH, as well as other employees in public information organisations. 

“This date reminds us of how responsible is the role of journalists, who, searching on a daily basis for the truth, struggle for the free, democratic and prosperous society. The importance of conveying accurate, timely and verified information proved its weight in the wake of the corona virus pandemics.

A special recognition and thankfulness is due to journalists, photo-reporters, cameramen and technical teams on the field, as well as to those in press offices who, in the extraordinary and complex circumstances informed the general public in BIH on the corona virus pandemics in a responsible, accurate and timely manner, thus contributing to preserve lives and health of citizens.

This day is an opportunity to point at the importance of basic principles of media freedom and their role in strengthening democratic societies, while the role of all holders of government functions is to enable media workers to perform their tasks with as less as possible obstacles and difficulties.

Once again, I wish you happy the International Day of Media Freedoms and a higher professional and personal standard, successful work and good health”, reads the congratulations note by the Chairman of the Council of Ministers.
