Chairman Krišto with EC President Von der Leyen

Chairwoman Krišto briefed President of the European Commission Von der Leyen of priorities of work of the Council of Ministers of BIH in the coming period of time. She stressed that continuation of reforms and fulfilment of 14 key priorities for advancing on the European road remain at the focus of work of the BIH Institutions, She added that the Council of Ministers of BIH has already defined the Draft 2023 Budget, which should ensure stability of institutions and implementation of planned reform activities, in addition to adoption of a series of relevant documents from the European agenda.
President of the European Commission Von der Leyen expressed her pleasure with dynamics of reforms implementation, especially 14 key priorities and programmes related to socio-economic issues.
Chairwoman Krišto sad that due to a complex political system in BIH, progressing along the European road requires a lot of patience, compromise and consensus of different authority levels in BIH, so that the European institutions support is key to it. She emphasised the importance of solving many internal issues in BIH for the continuation of the integrations process, the most important of which is amendment of the election law, so that constitutive people might be brought in an equal position and stakeholders might turn their focus to the European integrations issues.
Von der Leyen stressed that Bosnia and Herzegovina may count on all needed assistance from the European Union on its European road. She announced her plan to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina by the end of the year within her visit to the Western Balkans, and meet again with Chairwoman Krišto. She noted that from the results already achieved it came clear that the EU was right to grant its confidence to BIH, awarding it the candidate status. She emphasised that Bosnia and Herzegovina must take the moment in order to step-up its integrations process.
Chairman Krišto expressed her satisfaction with cooperation of BIH Institutions with the European Commission, noting that the Council of Ministers of BIH will directed its activities to improvement of fluidity of joint projects, She expressed her thankfulness to President Von der Leyen and the European Commission for a continuous and strong support to Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially for technical support in reform of public administration, legislation system and in infrastructure projects in the area of transport and energy. She added that the European Commission is the most important partner not only to BIH, but to all countries of the region. (end)
