Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Zoran Tegeltija, together with President of Republika Sprska Željka Cvijanović, talked in Novi Grad with the Municipality leadership on storing radioactive waste at Trgovska Gora in Croatia, near the border with BIH, and on status of the Novi Grad border-crossing, in addition to development projects.

Chairman Tegeltija stressed that BIH has to take more decisive steps concerning solution-finding of the radio-active waste storing at Trgovska Gora.

“We all have to get together and assemble a prominent team to represent of BIH in an eventual court dispute”, the Chairman of the Council of Ministers said, pointing that everything possible will be done to solve the issue through diplomatic channels, but that it cannot be allowed for citizens to be neglected.

He said BIH Institutions have been trying for several years now to deal with the issue of Trgovska Gora, however the successfulness of the effort will be evaluated in subsequent time, but the process still goes on, since Croatia does not give up its intentions.

Chariman Tegeltija pointed out that a proper coordination of BIH reactions missed, which will be mended in the next seven to ten days.

Chairman Tegeltija stressed that “the border crossing at Novo Brdo, which was amongst the first ones to be open for transport of goods, is now in a quite weird way re-purposed.”

“It somewhat slowed dawn the economy of the Municipality of Novo Brdo and some other local communities, as well. Whether or not and when will we manage to create an understanding with Croatia that a border-crossing for transport of goods  is needed here, we will see, but we can in no way give up our intention to have this border-crossing open for goods transport, meaning cargo traffic, as well”, emphasised the Chairman of the Council of Ministers.

Chairman Tegeltija stressed the importance of a smooth transport of goods and people for development of local communities and for the two countries.

The meeting discussed also the realisation of important infrastructure projects in the areas of road infrastructure and water supply in the rural area, in order to improve quality of life in the Novi Grad Municipality. Novi Grad Mayor Miroslav Drljača stressed that the priority for the future period of time is the development of the “Poljavnice” Industrial Zone.
