ECONOMCI REFORMS PROGRAMME BY 2026 ADOPTED 

The Council of Ministers of BIH adopted in a new text 2024-2026 Economic Reforms Programme (PER) of Bosnia and Herzegovina, focused at fulfilment of obligations by Bosnia and Herzegovina on the European road.

It is an ambitious plan of structural reforms which should correspond to global trends, accelerate BIH convergence and solve the outstanding inherited structural challenges.

The structural reforms are directed at competitiveness growth through technological modernisation of economy and improvement of business environment, increase business effectiveness of public-owned companies, creation of conditions for faster green transition and creation of preconditions for digital transformation. Also, a reform was planned in labour market, in order to harmonise education and improve effects of active employment policies. A special attention was paid to key parts of the public sector – welfare  and health protection, which contribute not only to economy competitiveness, but ro overall quality of life and long-term development of human capital in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Economic Reforms Programme, development of which included all-level institutions via Entity coordinators, was prepared by the Directorate for Economic Palnnng, following guidelines from the European Commission, based on proposals submitted by responsible State and Entity-level institutions, according to the Proposed Activities Plan.

The session took appropriate conclusions to ensure the proposed structural reform measures implementation monitoring and implementation of agreed policy guidelines achieved as a result oof economic and financial dialogue in 2024.

This is the 10th Programme of Economic Reforms to be provided to the European Commission. (end)
