Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Holds Its 24th Session

The Council of Ministers of BIH took unanimously the Ministry of foreign Trade and Economic Relations-proposed decision on temporary suspension and temporary decrease of duty rates in import of certain goods, until December 31, 2024, in accordance with the Law on Customs Tariffs.
The aim of this temporary measure is to support domestic economy and make business making more competitive, with maintenance of the existing jobs and new employment.
The decision covers 68 tariff marks, including 63 covered in 2023 in sectors of textile, footwear, chemical, metal, food and graphic industries, including elect5roindustry.
Good covered by the decision are materials and raw materials which BIH producers use both in their production for making final products, intended for export, or as a substitution to imported products, unmarketable domestically in quantities and quality needed for final production.
The Custom duties covered by the decision do not refer to goods originating from the countries BIH has concluded free trade agreements with.
STRENGTHENIGN OF COOPERATION IN AIR NAVIGATION
The Council of Ministers of BIH defined a Proposal Memorandum of Understanding on Mutual Cooperation among the Directorate for Civil Aviation of the Republic of Serbia, Directorate for Civil Aviation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Agency for Civil Aviation of Montenegro, Agency for Civil Aviati0non of the Republic of North Macedonia, and Main Directorate for Civil Aviation of the Republic of Turkey.
The Memorandum represents a basis for establishment and strengthening of cooperation among country-signatories, aiming promotion of civil aviation area, and it includes, among other things, recognition of pilot licences, establishment of an expert pool and exchange of experiences as to development and implementation of drone-related regulations.
The civil aviation authorities in the country-signatories should thus have a coordinated approach to international aviation organisations.
The Memorandum, also, supports a common initiative for setting-up a Civil Aviation Protection Training Centre, to be located in Belgrade, and the initiative implementation will be defined under a special arrangement and approved in line with relevant legal procedure.
The Ministry of Communications and Transport will provide the Proposal Memorandum to the BIH Presidency for further procedure, and the Director-General of the Directorate for Civil Aviation of BIH is the proposed the BIH signatory thereof.
GLOBAL TRENDS: ECONOMIC GROWTH SLOWED DOWN IN BIH TOO
The Council of Ministers of BIH adopted a piece of information by the Directorate for Economic Planning on indices of macroeconomic trends in BIH over January-June 2023.
Statistics for 2023 indicate a considerable slowdown of economic growth trends from last year, as a consequence of increased prices of goods and services, i.e. inflation, and external weakening of economic activity. The Q I 2023 registered in BIH a real economic growth of 1.1% relatively to the same time period year before, and the key reason for slowing down economic growth in 2023 was a decrease of private pending.
The slowdown of economic activity in country (private spending and investments) and a decrease of export demands (slowdown of economic growth in the EU) resulted in slowing down of growth trend of foreign exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina in QI 2023, so that in real terms it increased for 2% relative to the same period of time last year.
According to data from this May, there were 855,600 employed persons in BIH, which is for 1.7% more relative to last year, and there were 345,000 unemployed persons, which is for 4.35% less than in the same month last year. The unemployment rate in May 2023 was 27.7%.
The average net salary in May 223 was KM 1,275, with a nominal growth of 15.3% and real growth of 8.2% relative to the same month previous year. The average pension in Bosnia and Herzegovina in June 2023 was KM 567 and is nominally higher for 19.5% relative to June 2022.
The growth rate of total tax revenues in the first half of 2023 was 11.1% relative to the same period of time last year. Total collected was about KM 10.4 billion of public revenues, based on direct and indirect taxes, social contributions, fees, fines and charges.
The registered inflation in the first half of 2023 was 9.3%, relative to the first half of 2022. Viewed from the intended sending aspect, the most significant price growth was for food and beverages, housing, water, electric power, gas and other energy prices.(end)
