USD 20 MIL. IBRD LOAN TO BIH FOR FIGHT AGAINST COVID-19 

The Council of Ministers of BIH adopted an Initiative by the Ministry of Finance and Treasury, and designated a negotiating delegation for conclusion of a Loan Agreement between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) for an Emergency Support for COVID-19 Outbreak in BIH, worth USD 20 million.

This is a new emergency financial instrument to enable a wide range of support, including efforts to disease monitoring, inciting public health interventions and work with private sector  at reducing the effects of the outbreak to economy.

It s about support in the areas which include medical supplies adn equipment, test sets, hospital equipment, construction of health facilities ofr the emergency health care, removal of medicine wste, as well as support in welfare receivables.

 

IPA 2018-2020 FUNDS TO REDIRECT TO COVID-19 RESPONSE AND MIGRATIONS

 

The Council of Ministers granted its consent for redirecting funds from the state programmes of IPA 2018, IPA 2019 and IPA 2020 for Bosnia and Herzegovina for the needs of response to Covid-19 and to migrant crisis, as proposed by hte EU Delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Directorate for European Integrations, precisely IPA II State Coordinator will inform the EU Delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina immediately on the acceptance of the proposed redirections of IPA 2018, 2019 and 2020, for support to Covid-19 response, and for migrant crisis.

From IPA 2018, EUR two million remained unused, and those may be redirected to a contract with UN Agency for Medical Supplies and Equipment as a response to Covid-19, while EUR 10 million will be redirected for support o the migrations.

Also from IPA 2019 and IPA 2020 EUR 14 million will be secured for support to SMEs, and the trade sector will be supported by EUR four million.

The European Integrations General Instrument will be increased for EUR 18 million, and it may be used for a direct support to Covid-19 response.

This way, Bosnia and Herzegovina will be enabled available funds for response to Covid-19 outbreak, and for migrations.
