The Council of Ministers defined a Proposal Readmission Agreement between the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, together with a Proposal Protocol between the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ministry of Interior of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on implementation of the above Agreement.

Both the Proposal Agreement and Protocol will be provided to the BIH Presidency for further legal procedure, with a proposal for the signatory thereof to be the Minister of Security of BIH.

By concluding the Agreement, BIH and Pakistan reaffirm their readiness to participate in international actions of prevention of illegal migrations, because the Agreement regulates the issue of readmission of own citizens, third countries’ citizens and stateless individuals staying illegally in the territory of the contracting party.

It is an extremely important agreement for BIH, which became very interesting recently for illegal migration along the “Balkan route”, through which the smuggling process take place concerning individuals, narcotics, vehicles, as well as other forms of organised crime.

Under the proposal Protocol, bodies responsible for the acceptance, transfer and processing of readmission requests, including transit requests, are the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ministry of Interior for the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The readmission and admission of citizens of the two states and foreigners’ transit will take place through the international airports in Sarajevo and Islamabad.

The Agreement takes effect 30 days from the date of receipt of the last notification, the two states are to exchange, and from the completion of internal legal procedure required for the Agreement to take effect. The Protocol will come to force on the same day as the relevant Agreement.
