Council of Ministers Holds Its 72nd Extraordinary, Phone Session

ASSISTANCE SOUGHT FROM NEIGHBOURING AND OTERH COUNTIES FOR FIRE EXTIGUISHING IN BIH 

The Council of Ministers of BIH took unanimously the Ministry of Security-proposed decision on Supplement to a Decision on seeking assistance in protection and rescue in fire extinguishing.

Under the supplement decision an international support was sought in fire extinguishing in terms of fire fighting forces, tools and aircraft from the countries with which Bosnia and Herzegovina has signed-to agreements and memoranda on cooperation in protection and rescue, including aircraft to be available through the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism procedures..

Thus, the Council of Ministers of BIH supplemented last week’s decision asking for international assistance from the Republic of Croatia in terms of sending crewed aircrfaft (Canadair) for assistance in firefighting in BIH.

A request for a wider international support in fire extinguishing in BIH, both from the ground and from air, followed after fires escalated in BIH, especially in the areas of the Municipality of Posušje,   “Blidinje” National Park  and “Sutjeska” Nature Park.

Firefighting proceeds from the air by the BIH Armed Forces’ helicopters, helicopter Service of Republika Srpska and the Republic of Croatia military Canadair.

The decision supplementing the decision on seeking international assistance for protection and rescue in firefighting will be published in the “Official Gazette of BIH”, and it will be in force as long as a fire danger is imminent. (end)
